Ohana Prayer 399 – Ephesians 5
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light
9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth)
10 and find out what pleases the Lord.
11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light.
14 This is why it is said: “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise,
16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.
18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit,
19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord,
20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
Praise the Lord who gave mankind intelligence and wisdom, our Father in Heaven. Thank you for sending the light and let it shine into our hearts. Even if the darkness gets deeper, thicker, and wider covering the earth, and total darkness is over the peoples but the ray of light in our hearts drives away the darkness. When the light comes, the darkness is defeated.
Thank you that You are the living light that shines over us. No longer will the sun be our light by day, nor the brightness of the moon shine on our night; for You will be our everlasting light, and the days of our sorrow will cease.
Thank you, Lord Jesus. You came into the world to bring light that pierces the darkness of death, giving humanity the light of hope. In You we have redemption through Your blood. For by grace, we have been saved through faith and become heir of Your blessings. We are planted by You; the young shoots are Your handiwork under Your care and safe keeping.
Forgive us for our foolishness. We did not engrave Your word on the tablet of our hearts. Our minds are not alert, our eyes are linded by worldly things, and we manage our daily affairs in half- witted way. Admonish us so that we can wake up to find out what pleases God, stay away from those worthless things that are done in the dark and stop walking in the way of evil.
Thank you, beautiful Holy Spirit for accompanying us in the face of adversity. You led us through the difficult times during the pandemic and also when disasters struck. You wiped away the negative and tactless comments directed at us and dried our tears and sweat. Our hearts are still restless, please come and calm the storm of our minds.
Holy Spirit, the enlightener of God’s people. Thank you that You inspire thousands of musicians and writers to compose endless hymns and spiritual songs. You are prolific in producing the fruit of the spirit from the seed of the Word. May the Spirit that produces fruit of righteousness and goodness help our churches. Let them see a post-pandemic revival, sing praises and give thanks to the Lord for His faithfulness during tough times. Encourage us to set our minds on things above, and our priorities in right order, which are to seek first the kingdom of God, then the gospel, and church. We are to preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching because the day of Christ’s return is getting closer.
We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
