Ohana Prayer 293 – Luke 22

10 He replied, “As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to

the house that he enters,

11 and say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may

eat the Passover with my disciples?’

12 He will show you a large room upstairs, all furnished. Make preparations there.”

17 After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you.

19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body

given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”

20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in

my blood, which is poured out for you.[a]

39 Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him.

40 On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.”

41 He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed,

42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”

43 An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him.

44 And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling

to the ground.[c]

45 When he rose from prayer and went back to the disciples, he found them asleep, exhausted

from sorrow.

Holy and righteous God, judge of the world, our Father God in heaven; we get up early in the

morning and bow down in awe before your solemn throne. We praise your holy name. Great is

the Lord! Your deeds proclaim your majestic glorious splendor, your justice is eternal and your

faithfulness continues to each generation.

Once we were dead because of our disobedience and our many sins, but you gave us life. We

used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil and following the passionate

desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger.

However, because you loved us so much that you rescued us from the ashes and called us the

children of God.

Lord Jesus, you are the Lamb of God and bore the sins of the world. You are so rich in grace and

mercy that you raised us from the dead along with you. We are saved once and for all through

faith by your grace. Whenever we observe the communion with the bread and the cup, may we

remember that you have created us anew so we can live a new life and do the good things you

have planned for us.

Dear Lord Jesus! We are engulfed in the swamp of evil and distress: the pandemic is like a blast

storming through our world, our future is hidden in the lingering thick fog and our minds are

bombarded by the impure media. We are like huddling in the dark streets, waiting for the dawn

of hope to reappear. However, we firmly believe that you will not put out a flickering candle for

we know that the morning stars have silently appeared.

Whenever we remember that you have bestowed countless blessings on us and you have done

great things and performed miracles for us, we have to offer sincere thanks and praises to you.

You are not really being slow about your promise. Instead, you are being patient for our sake;

you want us to continue to pray patiently and quietly wait for the coming of your wonderful

work.

Pure and righteous Holy Spirit, please help us to guard our hearts above all else for they

determine the course of our lives. Help us to resist the sins and evil thoughts hovering at our

door.

Holy Spirit, you oppose the proud but give grace to the humble. Train us to be humble and

obedient under your guidance so we can resist the devil and the devil will flee from us. We

come close to you and you will come close to us. Please remind us often to wash our hands of

sins so we will do the right things, purify our hearts so our loyalty is not divided between you

and the world. Help us to stay away from evil and not be used by Satan as a tool of

unrighteousness to betray the Lord Jesus and bring shame to the Lord's name.

We pray faithfully in the holy name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
