Ohana Prayer 249 – Matthew 5
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
You are the LORD of boundless mercy and grace, our Heavenly Father. We praise and thank You for Your limitless grace and mercy embracing this world and have not withhold any good and blessings from us. In the mornings, we kneel before You in humility and bearing our souls to You. Less we sin with our eyes, hands and feet, that we cannot enter into Heaven whole.
For our sins and fragility, we ask for Your forgiveness. For our pride and licentiousness, we ask for Your forgiveness. For only interested in our self-interest, fame, fortune, and earthly desires, we ask for Your forgiveness. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? We sighed!
Thanks to our Lord Jesus. We affirmed that we can always fully depend on You. In Your name, bound the works that embraced our wretched body and decaying minds, so that our bodies are no longer under the power of sin. Thank You for the teaching of the Sermon on the Mountain Discourse after the calling of the disciples. To follow You in humbleness and meekness. The life we now live in the body, we live by faith in the Son of God. Let us emulate the life of Christ with hunger and thirst for righteousness. Praying with those who seeks out righteousness, faithfulness, agape, and peace. All the praises go back to our Lord when others observe of our lives living out to be the salt and light.
Thank You, Holy Spirit for giving us the energy and love to fervently and taking initiative to care for those who is suffering from the pandemic, making peace and building bridges.
Teach us to take inventory of ourselves when we are persecuted and falsely accused and seek out wisdom from You to face and gaining knowledge. Facing these with a joyful heart and attitude. Not an eye for an eye in anger to pursue vengeance. Seek peace and calmness, knowing that our Lord understands and will reward us when we do what is right and proper.
Pray with a thankful heart and in the name of our Lord Jesus. Amen.
