Ohana Prayer 246 – Matthew 2

1 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem

2 and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.

11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

13 When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”

14 So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt,

15 where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Out of Egypt I called my son.”

LORD of Host, our Heavenly Father! At Your house, by the alter, the sparrows find nesting and the swallows building nests for their chicks. Such observation brings us to understand of our Heavenly Father’s care and protection. Even more, You gifted us with mercy and glory and nothing that is not good have You not given to us. Forgive us of that we claim that we embraced Your word, yet, we lost the spiritual awareness that the magi put us to shame. The magi’s travel from afar shown of their observation with much hope and excitement that we do not have. We ask of Your forgiveness that we are no longer vigilant: of end days, of Christ’s eminent return and to keep our lights so shine while waiting.

Dear Lord Jesus, now is the time for us to be revived and watchful for the days are near for Your return. Night has fallen and the morning coming so now is to put aside our wickedness and put on the full armor of God. Although darkness surrounds us, we will need to walk in the straight path, no longer wasteful of our resources, no longer licentious, no longer hoarding, and no longer let competition and jealous. Always exercise self-control and put on the cloak of Christ and not living according to our fleshly desire.

Dear Lord, You raised us to be warriors. As the firefighters charge into the burning building, risking their lives to save and assist those who are in need, while others run the opposite direction. Lord, while we also charge into this world to render aide, render salvation, render assistant to those in need, even in this time of the pandemic. Let Your love be our fuel and our signa!

Come, O Holy Spirit! Come and revive us! Enlighten our hearts! Awaken our souls and rekindle of our ambers! Pray for the shower of blessings to reenergize our spirits, cleanse our mind, body, and soul to unite with the love of Christ. O Holy Spirit, come and feed us with the manna from Heaven. Be our guiding light so we can walk in this world and do not bring shame to the name of Christ, to build up the body of Christ, and the church be the beacon. Bear the cross and go forth to spread the Gospel.

Pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
