Ohana Prayer 202 – Proverbs 15
1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
2 The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly.
3 The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.
4 The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.
23 A person finds joy in giving an apt reply— and how good is a timely word!
24 The path of life leads upward for the prudent to keep them from going down to the realm of the dead.
28 The heart of the righteous weighs its answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil.
30 Light in a messenger’s eyes brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.
Our sovereign and omnipresent Father God, you inspect every heart. Where can we escape from your spirit? Where can we escape from your presence? Starting from the early morning, you guide us and support us with your hands. We praise you, God. We thank you for your wonderful creation. “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” We are currently blanketed by dark pandemic and incomprehensible difficulties. However, we still firmly believe that darkness cannot prevent us from seeing you. The night will eventually shine like day, because darkness and light are both in your hands.
Lord Jesus, please forgive our sins. Forgive us for straying away from the path of wisdom, despising discipline and admonishment. We follow the schemes of the wicked, walk on the path of the sinners, befriend scorners, take pleasure in foolishness and quarrel with slander and perversion. We are brainwashed by daily violence, harassment and viciousness which lead us to despair. Lord Jesus, may your true light come to illuminate us again. Let us realize that if we continue to follow the path which we have mistakenly taken as good, we will end up in nowhere but death. Let us beware that even Hades and destruction are under your scrutiny, let alone the hearts of man.
Holy Spirit, may your shower of blessings cleanse our hearts of unrighteousness, evil, insults and arrogance; rid our hearts of evil and indulgent spirits. So we will not act unjustly, thus turning the everlasting glory of God into a laughing stock among the unbelievers. Holy Spirit, please come and fill us, calm us, guide us. Give us a gentle tongue and merciful words, so we can raise our hands of righteousness to pray anytime and anywhere in peace and unity. We will guard our hearts with self-control, goodness, integrity and wisdom because we are your missionaries, your disciples and teachers for our next generation. We have to teach them the Way so that their hearts can fill with joy and their spirits can be nourished. Then they will never deviate from the Truth and become pillars of our society in the future.
We pray in the holy name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
