Ohana Prayer 200 – Proverbs 13

1 A wise son heeds his father’s instruction, but a mocker does not respond to rebukes.

3  Those who guard their lips preserve their lives, but those who speak rashly will come to ruin.

4  A sluggard’s appetite is never filled, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.

6  Righteousness guards the person of integrity, but wickedness overthrows the sinner.

9  The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out.

20  Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.

24  Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them.

Holy and righteous Father God, we kneel before you with humility and awe. Thank you for giving us free will. Thank you for giving us the lessons and rebuke of Proverbs and setting up boundaries along our paths so we can stay away from Evil. Thank you for giving us two eyes to scrutinize the changes of all things and a pair of ears to listen in all directions. However, you only gave us one mouth. Please guard our mouths and forbid us to speak of perverse words that will hurt others or cause others to stumble. Otherwise, not only do we defile our bodies, corrupt ourselves but also hurt others.

Lord Jesus, thank you for coming into this world as flesh; bringing us salvation and establishing for us the way to eternal life. The beautiful footsteps you left lead us to worship God, act justly, speak righteously and despise onerous richness. We will not be bribed, nor will we tolerate evil or hurtful words. On your holy mountain, we look upon your cross. We yearn to race down the mountain, conquering the barriers of the pandemic, through a society full of evil thoughts, disgusting lies and discourse; aiming towards the vast and beautiful land you have prepared ahead for us.

Holy Spirit, we thank you for not punishing us. Instead, you come to encourage us and support us; so that we will no longer dwell in heaps of misery and complaints. You give us strength to climb out from the cave of sorrow, decay and shame. You teach us to rebuild the tent of salvation with integrity and diligence. So the poor, weak and injured can have a sanctuary where they can be well fed with ration of heaven and be hungry or thirsty no more. Holy Spirit, please come again to encourage us. So we can build for others a resting place: a Good News tabernacle that never sways, its pegs never pulled out, its rope never broken and through it flows the fountain of life. May the whole world regard the fear of Jehovah as treasure, so that we will be secured with salvation, full of wisdom and knowledge in all our lives. We, the children of God, can prosper because your churches have all been revived. The prayer of commitment is in the holy name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
