Ohana Prayer 197 – Proverbs 10
4 Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.
5 He who gathers crops in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son.
8 The wise in heart accept commands, but a chattering fool comes to ruin.
9 Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out.
12 Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.
17 Whoever heeds discipline shows the way to life, but whoever ignores correction leads others astray.
19 Sin is not ended by multiplying words, but the prudent hold their tongues.
22 The blessing of the LORD brings wealth, without painful toil for it.
May the praise be to our Father in heaven who gave King Solomon wisdom. You are the source of all blessings and you are the Lord worthy of all praises. We come to you with reverence and sincerity, waiting for your guidance and teaching in the morning. So our mouths can cherish the righteous and wise words, our hearts can be engraved with the Proverbs of wisdom, our hands can become diligent and we can walk according to your will. We can then lead a godly life that pleases you every day, in need of nothing and free of worries.
Thank you Lord Jesus. Those who follow your footsteps will not slip and fall into temptations. Please help us not to dwell in selfish desire or succumb to temptations but deliver us from evil and lead us to walk steadily on the road of integrity. With wisdom and gentleness, we can live fairly and act justly. Please give us the power of integrity and compassion, so that we can live a life worthy of the calling we have received.
Good Holy Spirit, please use the Holy Word to rid our hearts of grievances, jealousy, dissatisfaction and bitterness; lest we live in the hurtful days of provoking disputes and causing troubles. Please save us from resentment, lest we use slanderous lies to cover up our inner deceit and wickedness. Please use the love of Christ to heal the wounds of our body, heart and spirit and cover all our wrongdoings with love. Please bind our tongues with steel chains; so we will not speak without restraint, resulting in divisions among brethren in God's house and destruction everywhere. At this time when the pandemic has brought tremendous brokenness in the society, please help us to raise our righteous hands and pray for peace in this city. Particularly, please halt the wind and turn the thick clouds into ample rain in our neighboring wildfire disaster areas so we can receive a moment of peace.
Sincere prayer is in the holy name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
