Ohana Prayer 196 – Proverbs 9
1 Wisdom has built her house; she has set up [a] its seven pillars.
6 Leave your simple ways and you will live; walk in the way of insight.”
9 Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.
10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
11 For through wisdom [b] your days will be many, and years will be added to your life.
12 If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer.
The Lord of all, our Father in heaven, you give man wisdom and knowledge. Early in the morning, we come to you with a heart yearning for righteousness. Thank you for setting up a banquet of wisdom for us: putting peace, honor, health, vitality, fairness, justice, even success and wealth on the table and grant us free will to choose among them.
Lord Jesus, we humbly invite you to walk with us along our life journeys. Please direct us to love you with all our hearts, all our souls and with all our minds. Help us to love our neighbors as ourselves. Thank you for reminding us that “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” You are the way, the truth and the life. Thank you for building us a ladder to seek wisdom and stature; thus enabling us finding favor with God and with men, ascending to the Father.
Holy Spirit, please come anoint us with oil, refresh our minds and give us listening ears. So we can welcome discipline and receive the benefit of humility; avoid the harm of complacency; able to distinguish right from wrong; stay away from evil; detest pride, arrogance and harsh words. Under the devastating destruction caused by this pandemic, the highly divisive issue of racial discrimination and the uncertainty of the political world; Holy Spirit please forbid us from going astray but willing to learn of our own weakness. So we will always be corrected by your instructions and will not arbitrarily fall into the trap of destruction. In this way, our cup of blessing will overflow and we will be a living testimony.
We pray in the holy name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
