Ohana Prayer 294 – Luke 23

33 When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the

criminals—one on his right, the other on his left.

34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”[c] And they

divided up his clothes by casting lots.

35 The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, “He saved others;

let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.”

38 There was a written notice above him, which read: this is the king of the Jews.

39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save

yourself and us!”

40 But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the

same sentence?

41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done

nothing wrong.”

42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.[d]”

43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

44 It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon,

45 for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two.

46 Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.”[e] When he

had said this, he breathed his last.

47 The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God and said, “Surely this was a

righteous man.”

Praise the holy and good Creator, our Father God in heaven, you are love. “All who live in love

live in God and God lives in them.”

We want to keep praising you. You are the holy one; you are the life, the truth, and the light.

Darkness has no power to hinder the existence of light. Your love can expunge hatred. By love,

you saved us from the judgement of our detestable sins. You also turn people from hatred to

love, because one of your attributes is love.

Thank you! Thank you Lord Jesus! It was our weaknesses you carried; it was our sorrows that

weighed you down. You were beaten so we could be whole. You were whipped so we could be

healed. The Lord laid on you the sins of us all. May your cross be my glory ever. We have to

deny ourselves and take up the cross to follow you every day.

Lord Jesus, you radiate God’s own glory and express the very character of God and you sustain

everything by the mighty power of His command. When you had cleansed us from our sins, you

sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven, interceding for

us continuously.

Holy Spirit, please help us not to allow worries to grow like thorns in the garden of our souls

when facing the pandemic so that we will not be dwelling in sorrow, self-pity and bitterness.

Please anoint us with the oil of joy, so that we can live for the Lord each day and willing to

serve. No matter how much we have to labor, our hearts will overflow with spiritual joy; no

matter how exhausted we are, we can experience the joy of walking with God and smile with

confidence and peace. Putting our body, mind, and spirit into the hands of our heavenly Father

and lie down in his embrace, we are filled with peace and joy..

We pray in the holy name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
