Ohana Prayer 279 – Luke 7
2 There a centurion’s servant, whom his master valued highly, was sick and about to die.
3 The centurion heard of Jesus and sent some elders of the Jews to him, asking him to come and heal his servant.
4 When they came to Jesus, they pleaded earnestly with him, “This man deserves to have you do this,
5 because he loves our nation and has built our synagogue.”
6 So Jesus went with them. He was not far from the house when the centurion sent friends to say to him: “Lord, don’t trouble yourself, for I do not deserve to have you come under my roof.
7 That is why I did not even consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.
8 For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
9 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following him, he said, “I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel.”
10 Then the men who had been sent returned to the house and found the servant well.
Praise the Lord who is glorious and mighty, our Father God in heaven. By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of your mouth. Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere you. For you spoke and it came to be; you commanded and it stood firm.
Our heavenly Father, your eyes are on those who fear you and those who look to your kindness. You will save us from death and protect us from the pandemic. We get up in the morning and bow down before you, waiting for you with all our hearts. You are our help and our shield. Your plans stand firm forever, the purposes of your heart through all generations.
Lord Jesus, you watch us from your heavenly dwelling place, examine our hearts and consider everything we do. Blessed is the nation and family whose God is the Lord.
Lord Jesus, thank you for forgiving our sins. We are the worst among sinners. We weep for our sins, but we cannot wet your feet with our tears or wipe your feet with our hair. We can only kiss them with our prayers and pour perfume on them with our living testimony. It is because whatever we do in your name, we can spread the pleasing aroma of Christ.
Good Holy Spirit, please come and refuel our lamps. Let our light shine before others, that they may see our good deeds and glorify our Father God in heaven.
Holy Spirit, please come to renew our body, mind and spirit. May we have clean hands and pure hearts and become the helping hands of Christ’s grace and mercy: extending the love of the Father to the lonely at home and the patients in the hospital; bringing grace and peace to families in poverty, comfort to the reeds whose soul is bruised in difficulties and encouragement to the smoldering wick in the heart that will be snuffed out in failure. Let us live out a life of faith, hope and love, especially unconditional and selfless love, because this is the greatest and most powerful testimony.
We pray in the holy name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
