Ohana Prayer 276 – Luke 4

1 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

2 where for forty days he was tempted[a] by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at

the end of them he was hungry.

3 The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.”

4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’[b]”

5 The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the

world.

6 And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me,

and I can give it to anyone I want to.

7 If you worship me, it will all be yours.”

8 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’[c]”

9 The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you

are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here.

10 For it is written: “‘He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully;

11 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[d]”

12 Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’[e]”

13 When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.

Praise our God and Father in heaven, may the glory be to God in the highest. Thank you for

calling us to become the people with whom you are pleased. We can testify that we are not

worthy of your peace and grace. It is only by your grace and mercy that we can become who we

are and find favor in your eyes. May all the glory be to our God.

Thank you Heavenly Father for your protection. We will not be depleted of our faith, hope or

love by the pandemic, diseases and all kinds of difficulties. It is because not by might or by

power do our body, heart and mind stand strong in the Lord; nor do we fight with our bare

hands. We put on the full armor you have given us and take the sword of the Holy Spirit. It is by

the power of the Holy Spirit that we can fend off the enemies during trials and stand firm to

accomplish all your plans.

Like in the desert, our generation has lost faith, hope, and love. Lord Jesus, please let us feel

your nail-scarred hands holding us tightly, picking us up from the sand and carrying us forward.

You have promised us that no one can snatch us out of your hand and no one can separate us

from the love of Christ.

Lord Jesus, please forgive our sins. We do not obey your pure words and your godly teachings.

We retain the evil roots of the old self in our hearts, indulging in jealousy, strife, slander, doubt,

grumble and an attitude of dissatisfaction. Being corrupted by the deceitful desires, we have

misused our new identity, gifts, strength and blessings from you to serve ourselves and have

used godliness as a way to obtain personal gain and exalt ourselves.

Come Holy Spirit, fall on me now. May we display the works of God and testify to the grace of

God. May your name, not ours, be glorified.

Holy Spirit, please come to take hold of our hearts and guard us against selfish desires of greed

and pride. May we serve the Lord and love others with reverence and humility so that God’s

name and your instructions will not be shamed.

Holy Spirit, please forgive our ignorance. We are always confused about the facts. It is only after

we have been confronted with trial and tribulations we then come to you for power renewal

and guidance. Every morning, please correct our hearts and minds so we can stay on the right

path: be a good witness by living out a life of righteousness, worship, faith, love, patience and

gentleness. May we live for God and bring glory to his name!

We pray in the holy name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
