Ohana Prayer 198 – Proverbs 11

1 The LORD detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with him.

2  When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.

11  Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed.

13  A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret.

25  A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

26  People curse the one who hoards grain, but they pray God’s blessing on the one who is willing to sell.

30  The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives.

31  If the righteous receive their due on earth, how much more the ungodly and the sinner!

Our Father in heaven, You are righteous and good. Your love endures forever and your faithfulness continues through all generations. Before the day begins, we bow down before You in awe, earnestly seeking peace for the time and the land we live in. We sincerely ask You to forgive our transgressions. We allow deceit, evil, arrogance and perverted ideas to corrupt the value and purpose in our lives. We permit our perverted hearts to conspire with evil and allow bullying languages to ignite a fire of resentment in our society; destroying love, peace, integrity and justice with violence and cruelty.

Holy Spirit, You examine our hearts and test our character! Our hearts have become more treacherous than ever and our steps have slipped down to the underworld. We are lost and will certainly face retribution. Holy Spirit, only You understand our dire situation. Please come to heal and save us. Please use the Spirit to dispel the haze of sin; so that we can see the end of all things is near, repent and do good.

Lord Jesus, You are full of love and compassion. Only your precious blood can heal the scarring wounds we have inflicted on ourselves and others. Please create a clean heart in us. Let us regain a righteous spirit, proclaiming Christ with songs of praise. Lord Jesus, please come into our hearts, like a roaring fire again; to burn away fear and let us receive the heart of strength, love, and discipline. Even under the pressure of the pandemic and in the turbulent divisiveness of society, we, as the church, can work together to bring out the fountain of living water: bring shower of blessings to the poor and bring hope to the needy and helpless. All souls can be revived and regain vitality. The cross and banners of salvation can again be held high in the church, together with the joyful song of peace. Our sincere prayer of repentance is in the name of Lord Jesus. Amen!
