Ohana Prayer 194 – Proverbs 7

1 My son, keep my words and store up my commands within you.

2  Keep my commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye.

3  Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.

4  Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” and to insight, “You are my relative.”

5  They will keep you from the adulterous woman, from the wayward woman with her seductive words.

The Lord Almighty, our Father in heaven. You make the sun shine in the day and the moon and stars along a defined orbit. Even though the night is dim, you allow us to clearly distinguish the boundary between heaven and earth. The new wave of pandemic and the thick ashes of mountain fires are trying to blind us. We may be confused: mistakenly believing that you are fathoming the heaven and the earth, wondering whether you are disciplining the earth and forsaking us. However, the dawn of the morning awakens us, “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion for those who fear Him.”

Lord Jesus, you expounded the Scripture in the temple and taught the path of righteousness on the mountainside of Galilee. We now bring to you all the disasters, suffering, turmoil and destruction we are facing. We are like an unfinished jigsaw puzzle that has been dismantled and scattered around. All the years of our hard labor now are lost. In this moment of panic and fear, we kneel down before you humbly, awaiting tears in our eyes be wiped and taste of bitterness in our mouth be cleansed. We are sure we will be lifted up by your comforting embrace and regain strength so we can continue our race.

Holy Spirit of Wisdom, please come to live in our hearts again. Please help us stand firm, pursue wisdom sincerely and be watchful at all times; lest we fall into the snare of the corrupt and covet the joy of our eyes regardless of the consequences, resulting in destruction. Holy Spirit, please help us to use Proverbs as a supporting beam of our life tents. Help us to build walls of blessings and establish our goals and directions in life so that we will not be defeated by temptations, losing sight of our purpose of life and wandering around with instability. Help us live a life of good witnessing with the holy words on our fingertips and the truth engraved on our heart, honoring God and benefiting others.

We pray in the holy name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
